About
Inspired by the strange, creepy, bizarre, and fantastical, Tanya Reinhart’s work captures the beauty of places often unseen by the average eye. Creating multiple works around a single location allows her to incorporate not only the aesthetics of the land but also the history and mythology behind it. Her weavings include bold colors as well as three-dimensional elements that help bring her pieces to life while her textile work adds to the narrative of her subjects and provides scenes and creatures straight from the depths of her imagination.
Reinhart’s interest in art started at a very young age as she was inspired to draw from the cartoons she watched as a child. As she got older, she found herself growing out of drawing and instead found a fascination in working with a needle. She learned to sew, knit, and cross-stitch and was soon making her own patterns so that she could surprise friends and family with various dolls, bags, scarves and needlework.
While art had been a hobby for Tanya her whole life, it wasn’t until college that she began her academic career at Northampton Area Community College. Where she majored in general studies but used her electives to explore ceramics and drawing. With an associate’s degree under her belt, Reinhart then transferred into Kutztown University where she is now majoring in crafts with a focus in textiles.
